The basic device is the built-in unit HDL 250
Framework
Solid tubular steel frame 1,000 mm x 550 mm x 550 mm with receiving seat for fire-extinguishing pistol, 4 double-flanged swing rubbers for assembly to vehicle
Driving motor
The VANGUARD 2-cylinder-V-motor with 18 HP/13.2kW engine output serves as driving motor featuring electric starter and additional recoil rope starter
Speed reduction gear
With a speed reduction gear the numbers of motor rotations is reduced from 3,800 rpm to the pump’s rotation of approx. 1,600 rpm. The speed reduction gear is directly flanged and oil-bath lubricated.
High pressure pump
A 3-cylinder in-line pump with hardened crankshaft, light metal piston rods, stainless-steel guiding valves , wear-proof ceramic plungers and a chemically nickel-plated hot-pressed brass cylinder head serves as high pressure pump.The pump is protected against overheating in circulatory action by a thermo valve which allows to drain a small amount of water when the temperature rises over 60°C so that cold water can flow in to prevent the ceramic plunger from thermal shock when opening the pistol.
Pressure control valve
As pressure control valve a circulation and relief valve is used which enables on one side the variable regulation of the pressure from 40 to 250 bar, on the other side maintains a pressureless circulation when shutting/stopping the spray pistol.
Foam-agent valve
Fires with fluids cannot be fought against with high pressure atomized water. Here we have to work with aqueous film forming foam (AFFF). Therefore, on the induction side of the high pressure pump there is installed a suction device with stop valve which enables foam agents (normal dosing 3%) to be added. This suction device allows the use of HDL 250 in combination with the hinged combi fire-extinguishing attachment also as a foam generator to fight fires with burning fluids.
Battery
For the electric start of the combustion motor (but also for possible additional lighting installations) there is a starter battery 12 V/44 Ah included vibration-safe into the frame of the device.
High pressure hose reel
There is a high pressure hose reel with hose reel opening, brake and fixing device installed in the framework. The high pressure hose reel houses the serially supplied 60 m high pressure panzer hose.
High pressure panzer hose
Supplied with the serial standard equipment there is a 60 m long, dimensionally stable high pressure panzer hose which has special characteristics. The panzer hose is extremely flexible and extremely light weighing only 390 g/m. Armed with a massive steel wire hard-core, this hose is approved for until 500 bar. The bursting pressure is approx. 1,750 bar (= 7-fold safety against the working pressure of 250 bar).
High pressure fire-extinguishing pistol
The fire-extinguishing device consists of a self-shutting pistol with a combined fire-extinguishing attachment. The fire-extinguishing attachment allows the use of a high pressure fire-extinguishing device (with atomized water at high speed) and at the same time, only by a simple swing of the front support handle by 180° (after short-time shutting of the fire-extinguishing pistols), can be used as a generator of low expansion foam to fight fires with fluids (fire-extinguishing agent AFFF) with a range of throw from 7 to 9 m.
Petrol can
To supply the combustion engine there is a relatively small petrol can containing 5 l with interchangeable lid mounted behind the hose reel. The tank filling is sufficient for an operation of approx. one hour. Regarding the short fire-extinguishing times of mostly only few minutes the fuel supply is more than sufficient.
